Holiday Trickery

Hey all! Just wanted to post a quick update! Our trip to London was totally awesome! I was excited to find out if I was pregnant or not. I was supposed to get my period on Thurs Sept 16th but it didn’t come. I took a pregnancy test and got a neg. The next day still no period. Took another test with another neg. I went 4 days of a missed period and was totally thinking I must be pregnant! Then on the 5th day aunt flow arrived… grrr. So fail for this month.. but thats ok.. plenty of time. For now I am enjoying Sam Adams Oktoberfest beer, coffee, English tea, and tuna sandwiches. Next fertile days should start Oct 1st.

3 Symbols, 2 Dreams… 1 Meaning?

I’m going to get right to the point of retelling my 2 dreams.

.

#1. On Saturday night, I dreamt Craigery and I went to an Asian sort of coffee house. There was an amateur band playing fun and bouncy music. When they concluded, they came and sat right down at our table. Without hesitation, one of them presented me with something… it was a ring. Not just any plain ring. This ring was made of wrought iron and had a branch nesting 3 beautiful pearls. Under the pearls, was a diamond (attached to the ring part). I don’t recall noticing whether or not the diamond was large or small… seemed average. But as soon as the ring was presented to me, it glowed and everything else sort of faded away. When I awoke I new there was something important about this ring.

#2. On Monday night, I dreamt I was flying through the sky at night… on like a tour or something. The sky was all lit up like the universe and we were soaring over the ocean. We got dropped into the ocean to swim… and all of you who know me knows that was not something I would enjoy… but I was fine. Not a moment later, a dolphin jumped out of the water, sparkling blue, and dove back in! I knew it was a privilege to see that! Later, when I returned home, I set my lunch bag down by the door, but something caught my eye. I saw a red snake coiling inside my lunch bag. It had black stripes too. I wasn’t afraid but I knew it was not a good idea to be inside. I picked up the lunch bag and set it outside. I then stood there mesmerized and watched the snake through the screen door, coiling and cuddling with my lunch bag.

.

There it is. It gave me chills to recount those dreams. I knew something seemed significant about them. On Monday, after the ring dream, I asked Bobpuin what she thought. Koreans are big into dream interpretation and symbolism. I know about some of her successes in life, as well as the dream that corresponds to it; they go hand in hand. She wasn’t totally sure what to make of it and Internet searches on the Korean sites didn’t turn up much. It wasn’t until after the second dream we got some interesting info. These were baby dreams. So what exactly is a baby dream? Well, it’s not when you dream you have a baby, or are suddenly caring for a strange baby. Koreans interpret baby dreams by symbols. There are some symbols they believe to always be a symbol of a baby dream, and other symbols have general warnings and well wishing. Here is the Korean interpretation of the symbols in my dream…

.

The Ring~ rings are sometimes a baby dream. Pearls are definitely a symbol for girls. Diamond is also a symbol for the sex of a baby but it depends on the size, and for my dream that was not really the significant part.

.

Dolphin~ a general symbol of good luck and wishes coming true. Not a common baby dream.

.

Red Snake~ 100% baby dream. Red snake is, according to the Korean culture, a baby dream for a girl. When I told her this symbol she didn’t even have to look it up. She said she already knows.

.

Now, let’s be sensible a little bit, of course Bobpuin admits that even though the red snake is always a baby dream, doesn’t mean the dreamer is pregnant. For example, a parent or sibling could have this dream for whomever is trying (or not trying) to get pregnant. And obviously it could turn out to nothing. It’s the fun of dream interpretation that makes it so intriguing. Bobpuin’s mom dreamt she was collecting clams on the beach when she got pregnant with both of her daughters. That’s how she knew. I have some Korean friends who were eager to share their baby dreams. Things like a pink bears giving them a hug, playing with a tiger, etc.

.

After going through and reading to me from the Korean websites about all the baby girl symbols I dreamt about, she turned to me and said “I think the dolphin is right and your wish is gonna come true!” I looked back at her and said “but I’m wishing for a boy” :P
